Terwyl a2.b7.c2.d3.e4.
Marthinus Christoffel Henning *15-11-1963
While a2.b7.c2.d3.e4. Marthinus Christoffel Henning *14-1-1873 was a prisoner-of-war in India during the Anglo Boer War 1899 – 1902 he made this walking-stick with inscription carved out in bone or ivory and inserted on the four sides of the top of the walking-stick. After the war, he donated the stick to his father.
Translation: “From M Henning to his father G Henning. As you open your hand to help the poor, likewise God will do the same to you.”
Unfortunately many of the letters fell out over the years and got lost.
This walking-stick is the property of a2.b7.c2.d3.e4.f3.g2. Marthinus Christoffel Henning *15-11-1963
