This semicircle table with carved out lion paws of stinkwood, with top made from mahogany was part of the marriage furniture of a2.b7.c8. Olivier Johannes Gerhardus Cornelis Henning, born 1 December 1834. He and his wife, Cornelia Susanna (born Kotzé) born 1-8-1839 were married on 14 January 1856 at Burgersdorp – this being the nearest church to the farm Damfontein in those days. The table was used in the old Damfontein homestead until Olivier’s daughter in law, Magdalena Maria Daisy Henning (born Beeton) moved to the town Aliwal North to live with her daughter, Gladys Truter (a2.b7.c8.d8.e6.). Gladys and her son, Theo Truter inherited the table after each other and in the 1990’s a2.b7.c8.d8.e3.f4. Olivier Henning, League Secretary of the Henning Family League bought the table from Theo.
